Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi
Delhi plays a key role in the story of the Mahabharata. Many rulers and dynasties controlled it over time. The Mauryas, Pallavas, and Guptas of Central India ruled first. Then came the Turks and Afghans from the 13th to 15th centuries. The Mughals took over in the 16th century. The British gained control in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1911, Delhi became the new capital replacing Kolkata. This move made Delhi the center of activity. It became a Union Territory in 1956. Delhi sits in northern India. Haryana surrounds it on all sides except the east where it shares a border with Uttar Pradesh. The 69th Constitutional amendment changed Delhi's history. This led to the National Capital Territory Act of 1991, which gave Delhi its own Legislative Assembly.
Agriculture
The main food crops are wheat, bajra, jowar, gram and maize. But now, the focus has shifted from food crops to vegetables and fruits, dairy, poultry-farming, and flowers. These options bring in more money than food crops in the area.
